Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I create pages for my website?
You will need an HTML (HyperText Markup Language) editor to design your web pages. You may choose to purchase one from your local electronics store, our recommendation is the latest version of Macromedia Dreamweaver

2. How do I publish my web pages on the Internet?
Please download an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client to post your web pages on our server. We recommend a free version entitled WS_FTP LE, available (again) at www.download.com. Once you have downloaded WS_FTP LE, click start> programs> WS_FTP. This will start the program. After installation, double click on the WS_FTP LE icon. The directory window will appear first, followed by the session property window. If for any reason this window does not appear, click on the connect button on the WS_FTS LE protocol.

Once the session property screen is up,

  1. Enter your domain name in the “profile name” field
  2. Make sure “Auto Detect” is entered in the “host type” field
  3. Enter 216.218.189.44 in the “host name/address” field
  4. Enter your DomainSite account username in the “user ID” field
  5. Enter your DomainSite password in the “password” field. If you have changed your password since purchasing web hosting, you will need to use the password that you had when signing up.
  6. Enter OK, and the setup is complete

You now have the ability to transfer files from your computer, also known as the “local system,” to your website, also known as the “remote site.”

3. What are subdomains?
In the DNS (Domain Name System) hierarchy, a subdomain, also known as a third-level domain, is a sub-section of a larger domain name. For instance, in the domain name “dill.massivehosting.com.au,” the “dill” prefix denotes a subdomain of the larger second-level domain “massivehosting.com.au.” Customers may use subdomains to compartmentalize certain functions and elements of their web resources. In short, consider subdomains as satellites of your domain name.

4. How do I use WebMail and integrate it into my email client?

You can create aliases for your Domainsite email addresses with our hosting packages. For example, if your email address is you@massivehosting.com.au, and you want your email address to read charlie@massivehosting.com.au, simply create an alias named info, and all email messages addressed to charlie@massivehosting.com.au will forward to you@massivehosting.com.au.
